Vladimir "Vladica" Popović (Serbian Cyrillic: Bладимиp "Bлaдицa" Пoпoвић) was a Serbian football player and manager. He was born on March 17, 1935, and passed away on August 10, 2020. He is best known for winning the Intercontinental Cup with Red Star Belgrade as a coach in 1991. This was a huge success for his coaching career.

Early Life and Playing Career
Vladica Popović was born in Zemun, which was part of Yugoslavia at the time. He started playing football at a local club called Jedinstvo. His talent was quickly noticed.
When he was still very young, the famous club Red Star Belgrade brought him into their youth team. He played for Red Star Belgrade for over ten years. During his time there, he became the team captain. He also played regularly for the Yugoslav national team.
Olympic Success
Popović was part of the Yugoslav team that won a silver medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics. This was a big achievement for him and his country. After playing for Red Star Belgrade, he also played for clubs in Germany and Venezuela before ending his playing career.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Popović became a football coach. He started his coaching career in Venezuela in the 1970s. There, he managed teams like Portuguesa FC, Caracas F.C., and Deportivo Italia.
He also coached several teams in Colombia, including Deportivo Cali and Millonarios. Later, he even coached the Peru national football team.
Return to Red Star Belgrade
One of his most memorable coaching roles was with his old club, Red Star Belgrade. He led them to win the Intercontinental Cup in 1991. This made him a very successful coach.
