Vladimir Alekno was born on December 4, 1966. His birthplace was Polotsk, which is in the Vitebsk Voblast region. His mother was Belarusian, and his father was Lithuanian.
Playing Career
Alekno started his volleyball journey in 1984. He began playing for the SKA Minsk team. He played as a middle blocker during his career. He played for several clubs, including CSKA Moscow and AS Cannes VB. His playing career lasted until 1999.
Player Achievements
As a player, Alekno won several medals. He earned a gold medal at the 1999 World Cup. He also won silver and bronze medals at the European Championship. In the World League, he secured two silver and two bronze medals.
