Vladimir Borisovich Korenev (Russian: Влади́мир Бори́сович Ко́ренев; born June 20, 1940 – died January 2, 2021) was a well-known actor and teacher from the Soviet Union and Russia. He was most famous for his role in the 1962 film The Amphibian Man. In 1998, he received the important award of People's Artist of Russia.

Early Life and Education

Vladimir Korenev was born on June 20, 1940, in Sevastopol. His father, Boris Leonidovich Korenev, was a high-ranking naval officer. Vladimir lived in Izmail before his family moved to Tallinn.

In Tallinn, Vladimir became very interested in books and theatre. He joined a drama club. His classmate, Larisa Luzhina, encouraged him to join. Other future actors like Vitali Konyayev and Igor Yasulovich were also in the club.

In 1957, Vladimir started studying at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts. This was a famous theatre school. He learned from respected teachers, including Gregory Konskiy and Olga Androvskaya.

Career Highlights

In 1961, Vladimir Korenev joined the Moscow Drama Theatre. He was invited by Mikhail Yanshin, who was in charge of the theatre at that time. He performed in many plays there.

In 2011, Vladimir Korenev was a leader at the Sozvezdie International Film Festival. He was still acting at the Moscow Drama Theatre. He also worked as a leader at the Institute for Humanitarian Education.

By 2015, Korenev had become a leader in theatre arts at a place called Abbot.

Honours and Awards

Vladimir Korenev was given the title of People's Artist of Russia in 1998. This is a very high honour for artists in Russia. It shows that he was a highly respected and talented actor.

Death

In 2020, Vladimir Korenev became sick with COVID-19. He passed away from the illness in Moscow on January 2, 2021.
