The Vysočina Region is a special area, like a state or province, in the Czech Republic. Its main city, or capital, is Jihlava.
This region is famous for its beautiful nature, including two mountain ranges called Žďárské vrchy and Jihlavské vrchy. It's also home to three amazing places recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. These are the old town of Telč, the unique Pilgrimage Church of Saint John of Nepomuk in Žďár nad Sázavou, and the historic Jewish Quarter and St Procopius' Basilica in Třebíč.
Exploring the Vysočina Region
The Vysočina Region is located in the central part of the Czech Republic. It covers an area of about 6,795 square kilometers. This makes it a medium-sized region in the country.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites
Vysočina is special because it has three places listed by UNESCO. UNESCO helps protect important cultural and natural sites around the world.
- Telč Historic Centre: This town has a beautiful main square. It is surrounded by colorful Renaissance and Baroque houses. Walking through Telč feels like stepping back in time.
- Pilgrimage Church of Saint John of Nepomuk: This church is near Žďár nad Sázavou. It has a very unique star shape. The church was built in the early 1700s. It is a great example of Baroque architecture.
