Wahidul Haque (born around 1933 – died July 3, 2020) was an important person in Bangladesh. He served as the Finance Minister for the country. This means he was in charge of managing Bangladesh's money and economy. He was also a special kind of professor, called an emeritus professor, at the University of Toronto in Canada.

Wahidul Haque's Life and Work
Early Education and Studies
Wahidul Haque finished his master's degree at the University of Dhaka in 1955. Later, he went to the United States to study even more. He earned his PhD from Stanford University in California. A PhD is the highest university degree you can get.
Teaching and Professorship
In 1969, he became a professor of economics at Islamabad University. Economics is the study of how money, goods, and services are made and used. He also taught at University of Dhaka for some time. After that, he taught at the University of California, Berkeley. He then joined the University of Toronto as a professor. He lived and worked there for many years.
Role as Finance Minister
From September 1988 to May 1990, Wahidul Haque served as the Finance Minister of Bangladesh. He held this important job during the time when Ershad was leading the country. As Finance Minister, he helped make decisions about the country's budget and financial plans.
His Passing
Wahidul Haque passed away on July 3, 2020.
