What's in a Name?
The name Wahkeena comes from a Native American language. It is believed to be a word from the Yakama people. The name means "most beautiful." This shows how much people have always admired this special waterfall.
Where to Find Wahkeena Falls
Wahkeena Falls is easy to find along the Historic Columbia River Highway. This highway is about 13 miles (21 kilometers) east of a town called Troutdale, Oregon. You can see the waterfall right from the highway!
Exploring the Falls
If you want a closer look, there is a short path. A walk of about 0.2 miles (320 meters) from the parking lot takes you to a stone bridge. This bridge crosses the main part of the falls, giving you a great view. The trail continues even further east. It connects to Multnomah Falls, which is the next big waterfall nearby.
