Waldo Junction is a small place in Yuba County, California. It's not a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's called an unincorporated community. This means it's part of the county, and the county government helps manage it.
Waldo Junction is located right next to a stream called Dry Creek. It's about 9.5 miles (or 15.3 kilometers) northeast of a place called Wheatland. The land there is about 256 feet (which is 78 meters) above sea level.
How Did Waldo Junction Get Its Name?
This community has had a few different names over the years! When it was first settled in 1852, people called it Cabbage Patch.
Later, in 1898, a post office opened there. At that time, the name was changed to Waldo. This new name was chosen to honor someone important. Some people believe it was named after William Waldo, who was an early settler in the area. Others think it was named after Waldo Johnson, who was a well-known lawyer from Marysville. The post office stayed open for many years, finally closing in 1915. Over time, the name changed slightly to what we know today as Waldo Junction.
