Waldon was a special kind of community in Contra Costa County, California, United States. It was called a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it was an area identified by the United States Census Bureau for counting people, but it wasn't an official city or town.
In the year 2000, about 5,133 people lived in Waldon. It was easy to get around because it was served by the Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre station, which is part of the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system. The major highway Interstate 680 also ran nearby.
Over time, Waldon started to change. There were projects to build new homes and businesses close to the BART station. This type of building is called "transit-oriented development." It helps people live closer to public transportation.
By the 2010 census, the area that used to be Waldon became part of another census-designated place called Contra Costa Centre. So, Waldon is no longer listed as a separate place.
