Waldren "Frog" Joseph (born September 12, 1918 – died September 19, 2004) was an American jazz musician. He was a talented trombone player from New Orleans, Louisiana. He was known for his amazing skills and for keeping traditional New Orleans jazz alive.
Waldren Joseph's Music Career
Waldren Joseph played many different styles of music during his life. He was most famous for playing traditional New Orleans jazz. This is a special kind of jazz music. Groups like those at Preservation Hall helped keep this style popular.
When he was a teenager, Waldren Joseph got his first music job. He played piano, double bass, and trombone. He performed on a boat that traveled on Lake Pontchartrain.
He later toured with many musicians. These included Joe Robichaux, Sidney Desvigne, and Lee Allen. Waldren Joseph also recorded music with R&B artists. Some of these artists were Big Joe Turner, Earl King, Smiley Lewis, and Dave Bartholomew.
He also played and toured with famous New Orleans bandleaders. These included Paul Barbarin, Louis Cottrell, Jr., and Papa French. Later in his life, he joined the Original Camelia Band. This band was led by the trumpet player Clive Wilson.

Waldren Joseph had seven children. Two of his children also became musicians. His son Kirk Joseph plays the sousaphone. His son Charles Joseph plays the trombone, just like his father.
