About Wallace Ridge
Wallace Ridge is found in the northeastern part of Catahoula Parish. It sits on the west side of the Ouachita River, which is an important waterway in the region. The community itself is built on higher ground, especially the older parts of Wallace Ridge.
Lakes and Waterways
Two interesting lakes are part of the Wallace Ridge area.
- Tew Lake is in the northern part of the community. It used to be a channel of the Ouachita River. Over time, the river changed its path, leaving Tew Lake behind. This type of lake is called an "oxbow lake" because of its curved shape, like the U-shaped collar worn by an ox.
- Wallace Lake is another oxbow lake that borders the southern part of the community. These lakes are often home to various plants and animals.
Roads and Nearby Towns
