William Wallace Barron (born December 8, 1911, died November 12, 2002) was an American politician. He was a member of the Democratic Party. Barron served as the 26th Governor of West Virginia. He was governor from 1961 to 1965.

Early Life and Education

William Wallace Barron was born in Elkins, West Virginia. He went to Washington and Lee University for his college studies. Later, he studied law at the West Virginia University Law School.

Military Service and Early Career

During World War II, Barron served in the United States Army. After the war, he entered politics. In 1949, he was elected as the mayor of his hometown, Elkins.

State Politics

Barron became a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates in 1950. He was re-elected in 1952. He later became the state's Attorney General in 1956.

Governor of West Virginia

In 1960, William Wallace Barron was elected governor of West Virginia. As governor, he continued important work started by the previous governor, Cecil H. Underwood. This included efforts to improve government and support civil rights for all citizens.

He completed his term as governor in 1965. William Wallace Barron passed away on November 12, 2002, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
