Tournament History
How the Tournament Started
The first tournament in 2007 was a bit unusual. There was a lot of bad weather, so only the first day of golf could be finished. Because of this, the tournament was called "unofficial." For a golf tournament to be official, at least two full rounds (36 holes) must be played.
Stacy Lewis, who was a college student at the University of Arkansas at the time, was leading after the first day. She was named the unofficial winner. The prize money for the professional golfers was cut in half. Since Stacy Lewis was an amateur (meaning she wasn't a professional yet), she didn't get any money.
