Walter Raymond Crickmer (born December 17, 1899 – died February 6, 1958) was an important person in English football. He worked as a club secretary and a manager.

Walter Crickmer started working for Manchester United in 1926. He became the club's secretary. This job meant he helped run the club behind the scenes.

He also took on the role of manager twice. His first time as manager was from April 1931 to June 1932. He managed the team again from August 1937 to February 1945.

Walter Crickmer worked closely with the club owner, James W. Gibson. Together, they created a special system to find and train young football players. This was called the youth development system. It helped many young talents grow into great players for Manchester United.

Walter Crickmer served Manchester United for 32 years. Sadly, he passed away on February 6, 1958. This happened during a plane crash known as the Munich air disaster. He is buried at Stretford Cemetery.

He was married to Nellie Robertson. They got married in 1921. Nellie lived for nine years after Walter passed away. They had one daughter named Beryl, who was born in 1921.
