The Story of Warren: A Look Back
Warren has an interesting past! It was first planned out in 1833 and was called "Jonesboro." This was near a road that went from Indianapolis to Fort Wayne. In 1837, the person who started the town, Samuel Jones, sold his very first piece of land.
The town's name was later changed to Warren. This happened because there was another town called Jonesboro not too far away. In 1878, Warren started to grow a lot when a new railroad line was built right through the area.
Where is Warren Located?
Warren is found along the Salamonie River. This river is a natural feature that adds to the town's geography. The town is also located just southeast of Interstate 69. You can find it between exits 273 and 278 on the highway.

According to information from 2010, Warren covers a total area of about 1.145 square miles (2.966 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 1.14 square miles (2.95 square kilometers), is land. Only a very small part, about 0.005 square miles (0.013 square kilometers), is water.

In 2010, a census (a count of people) showed that 1,239 people lived in Warren. These people lived in 515 households, and 341 of these were families.

Learning in Warren: Schools and Library
The Huntington County Community School Corporation runs Salamonie School. This school teaches students from kindergarten through fifth grade. It is the only school still open in Warren.
Long ago, there was a Salamonie Township High School. It joined with Huntington County Community High School in 1966. That school is now called Huntington North High School. Warren Elementary School used to be in the old high school building. Its basketball team was even called "Lightning 5." However, that school eventually closed.
The old school building is now known as the "Knight Bergman Center." It serves as a community center for the town.
Warren also has a public library called the Warren Public Library. It's a great place to borrow books and learn new things.
