Warren Lynn Kidd, born on September 9, 1970, is a former American basketball player. He was a strong player who stood 6 feet 9 inches tall and weighed 235 pounds. Warren Kidd played as a center. He spent one season playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Philadelphia 76ers. After that, he played the rest of his basketball career in Europe.
College Basketball Years
Warren Kidd played college basketball for Middle Tennessee. He was part of the Ohio Valley Conference in NCAA Division I. He played from 1990 to 1993.
In his final year of college, 1993, he was the top rebounder in NCAA Division I. This means he grabbed more rebounds than any other player in the league that season.
Playing Pro Basketball
Even though Warren Kidd was not chosen in the 1993 NBA draft, the Philadelphia 76ers signed him in October 1993. He played 68 games for the 76ers. In his only season with the team, he averaged 3.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He played about 13 minutes in each game.
Playing in Europe
After his time in the NBA, Warren Kidd moved to Europe. He played basketball there for the rest of his career.
He first went to Spain to play in the Liga ACB for Valencia. He also played for other Spanish teams like Sevilla, Joventut Badalona, and Tenerife.
Warren Kidd also played in Italy's top league, the Serie A. He played for teams like Olimpia Milano and Virtus Roma. In the 1998–99 season, he led the Italian league in rebounding while playing for Virtus Roma.
With Olimpia Milano, he played in the biggest European basketball competition, the EuroLeague. He also led the EuroLeague in rebounding during the 1996–97 season. He also played in the second-tier Saporta Cup with Olimpia Milano. In 1998, his team reached the final of that competition.
