Kidd played one season in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Philadelphia 76ers. After that, he spent the rest of his basketball career playing in Europe.
College Basketball Career
Warren Kidd played college basketball for Middle Tennessee. He was part of the Ohio Valley Conference in NCAA Division I. He played from 1990 to 1993.
In his final college season in 1993, he was a top player. He led all of NCAA Division I in rebounding. Rebounding is when a player gets the ball after a missed shot.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Warren Kidd was not chosen in the 1993 NBA draft. This means no NBA team picked him right away. However, the Philadelphia 76ers signed him in October 1993.
He played 68 games for the 76ers. In his only season with the team, he averaged 3.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He played for about 13 minutes in each game.
Playing in Europe
After his time in the NBA, Kidd moved to Europe. He played basketball there for the rest of his career.
He first went to Spain to play in the Liga ACB. This is a top basketball league in Spain. He played for teams like Valencia, Sevilla, Joventut Badalona, and Tenerife.
Warren Kidd also played in Italy's top league, the Serie A. He played for Olimpia Milano and Virtus Roma. In the 1998–99 season, he led the Italian league in rebounding while playing for Virtus Roma.
With Olimpia Milano, he played in the EuroLeague. This is a very important basketball competition in Europe. He also led the EuroLeague in rebounding during the 1996–97 season. He also played in the FIBA Saporta Cup, another European competition. His team reached the final in 1998.
