Warriyangga facts for kids
The Wariangga, also known as Warriyangka, are an Aboriginal Australian people. They come from the Gascoyne region in Western Australia.
Their Language
The Warriyangka people spoke a language called Mantharta. It was one of four different ways of speaking Mantharta. The other groups who spoke similar languages were the Thiin, Djiwarli, and Tharrkari.
Their Traditional Lands
The Wariangga people lived in a large area. This area was about 1,700 square miles (4,400 square kilometers). It was in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. Their lands included parts of the Upper Lyons River. They also lived near Gifford and Minnie creeks, Edmund, and east of Maroonah.
The Wariangga people were very careful about their land borders. They had neighbors all around them. To the north were the Tenma. The Dyiwali lived to their northeast. The Ninanu were directly to the east. The Watjarri lived southeast of them. The Malgaru were at their southern border. And the Tharrkari lived to their west.
