Waterfalls Canyon is a beautiful place found in Grand Teton National Park. This park is in the state of Wyoming, in the United States. The canyon got its name because it has many lovely waterfalls.

How Waterfalls Canyon Was Formed

Waterfalls Canyon was shaped by huge sheets of ice called glaciers. These glaciers moved slowly across the land a very long time ago. About 15,000 years ago, at the end of the last Ice Age, these glaciers started to melt and shrink.

As the glaciers moved, they carved out the land. They left behind a special type of valley. This valley is shaped like the letter "U". This "U-shaped valley" is a clear sign that glaciers were once there.

Where is Waterfalls Canyon?

You can find Waterfalls Canyon in a stunning natural area. It is located south of a mountain called Ranger Peak. To its north is another mountain, Eagles Rest Peak.

The main entrance to the canyon is on the western side of Jackson Lake. If you are at Colter Bay Village, which is on the other side of the lake, you can look directly across to see the canyon entrance.

Amazing Waterfalls!

True to its name, Waterfalls Canyon is home to several amazing waterfalls. These waterfalls are also called cascades. They tumble down from a lake that doesn't have a name yet. This unnamed lake sits below Ranger Peak.

Two of the most well-known waterfalls in the canyon are Wilderness Falls and Columbine Cascade. They add to the beauty and wildness of this special place.
