The Minto Stone: A Window to the Past

Minto stone
The Minto Stone is a large stone with writing carved into it. It helps us learn about Dyah Wawa's time.

Much of the information we have about Dyah Wawa comes from an ancient stone called the Minto Stone. This stone has special carvings, known as an inscription. These inscriptions are like old records or messages from the past. They tell us about the kings, their rules, and important events. The Minto Stone was found in a place called "Ngendat." It was first described by a person named Colin Mackenzie in the early 1800s.

After Dyah Wawa's Reign

After Dyah Wawa, his son-in-law, Mpu Sindok, became the new king. Mpu Sindok ruled from 929 to 947 CE. He made a big change for the Mataram Kingdom.

Moving the Capital

In 929, King Mpu Sindok decided to move the capital city of the Mataram Kingdom. He moved it from Central Java to East Java. Historians believe this move might have been due to natural disasters, like a volcanic eruption, or other reasons.

Where Dyah Wawa Might Rest

It is thought that Dyah Wawa might have been buried at a place called Belahan Temple. This temple is located near a town called Pasuruan in East Java. It's possible that Mpu Sindok, as his successor, arranged for his burial there.
