Early Life and High School Football

Wayne Gallman grew up in Loganville, Georgia. He went to Grayson High School there. At Grayson, he was a star player on the high school football team. He played alongside other talented athletes. Experts thought he was a very promising player. He decided to go to Clemson University to play college football.

College Football Career

Wayne Gallman played college football for Clemson from 2013 to 2016. In his first year, 2013, he took a "redshirt" year. This meant he practiced with the team but did not play in games. This allowed him to get stronger and learn more.

Freshman Year at Clemson (2014)

In 2014, Wayne played in all 13 games for Clemson. He started in nine of those games. He scored his first college touchdown against Boston College. Later that year, he had a great game against Wake Forest. He ran for 106 yards and scored a touchdown. He also caught passes for 43 yards and another touchdown. In the last game of the season, he ran for 191 yards against South Carolina. He finished his first playing season with 769 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Sophomore Year at Clemson (2015)

Wayne became the main running back for Clemson in 2015. He played in 14 games that season. He started strong with two touchdowns against Wofford. On Halloween, he ran for 172 yards and a touchdown against North Carolina State. In the ACC Championship game, he had an amazing performance. He ran for 187 yards and a touchdown. He also caught passes for 68 yards and another touchdown. Clemson had a fantastic season and made it to the College Football Playoff. In the Orange Bowl, he ran for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Clemson won that game. They then played in the National Championship against Alabama. Wayne ran for 45 yards and a touchdown in that game. Clemson lost a close game, 45-40. He ended the season with 1,514 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.

Junior Year at Clemson (2016)

In 2016, Wayne played in 15 games. He ran for 1,133 yards and scored 17 touchdowns. He started the season with 123 rushing yards and a touchdown against Auburn. Later, he had a big game against Wake Forest, running for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Clemson made it back to the College Football Playoff. In the Fiesta Bowl, he ran for 85 yards and a touchdown. Clemson won that game too.

Clemson then played Alabama again in the 2017 National Championship. This time, Clemson won a thrilling game 35-31! Wayne had 46 rushing yards and a touchdown in the championship game. He also caught three passes for 39 yards. After this great season, Wayne decided to enter the NFL draft. He chose to leave college a year early.

New York Giants (2017–2020)

Wayne played his first NFL game on October 1, 2017. This was also his 23rd birthday! He scored his first NFL touchdown in that game. In his first season, he ran for 476 yards. He also caught 34 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown. In 2018, he scored his first rushing touchdown in Week 17. He finished that season with 176 rushing yards.

In 2019, Wayne got his first start of the season in Week 4. This happened because another player, Saquon Barkley, was injured. Wayne ran for 63 yards and a touchdown. He also caught six passes for 55 yards and another touchdown. The Giants won that game 24-3. He ended the 2019 season with 110 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

The 2020 season was a big one for Wayne. He started as a backup player. But after Saquon Barkley got injured, Wayne became the main running back. In Week 10, he ran for two touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles. This was a career high for him. In Week 13, he ran for 135 yards against the Seattle Seahawks. This was his best rushing game. Other NFL Teams (2021–2022)

Wayne signed with the San Francisco 49ers in April 2021. However, he was released before the season started. He then signed with the Atlanta Falcons in September 2021. He played for them for a few months. In December 2021, he joined the Minnesota Vikings. In total for 2021, he played in eight games. He ran for 104 yards.

In 2022, Wayne signed with the practice squad of the Kansas City Chiefs. A practice squad is where players train with the team but are not on the main roster. He was later released. Then, he signed with the practice squad of the Seattle Seahawks. He was released and re-signed with them again. His contract with the Seahawks ended in January 2023.
