Webster Glacier (79°6′S 86°11′W / 79.100°S 86.183°W / -79.100; -86.183) is a large river of ice located in a very cold place called Antarctica. It's found in a part of Antarctica known as the Heritage Range. This amazing glacier slowly moves between two peaks, Frazier Ridge and Pipe Peak, before joining another big glacier called Minnesota Glacier.

What is Webster Glacier?

A glacier is like a giant, slow-moving river made of ice. Webster Glacier is one of these icy rivers. It is located in the Founders Peaks area, which is part of the Heritage Range in Ellsworth Land, Antarctica. This glacier flows generally north. It moves between two specific places: Frazier Ridge and Pipe Peak. Eventually, it flows into a larger ice stream known as Minnesota Glacier.

Where is it located?

Webster Glacier is in the Heritage Range of Ellsworth Land, Antarctica. This area is very cold and covered in ice and snow. The glacier is part of the Founders Peaks, which are mountains in this icy landscape. It flows into the Minnesota Glacier, which is another large ice formation nearby.

How was it discovered and named?

Webster Glacier was first mapped by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). This mapping happened using surveys and air photos taken by the United States Navy between 1961 and 1966. Air photos are pictures taken from airplanes, which help scientists see and map large areas.

The glacier was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN). They named it after Charles W. Webster. He was a meteorologist, which is a scientist who studies weather. Charles Webster was part of the United States Antarctic Research Program (USARP). He spent the winter of 1963 at Wilkes Station, a research base in Antarctica.
