Weight class facts for kids
Weight classes are special groups in sports that make sure athletes compete against others who are about the same size. Think of it like putting players on teams based on their height and weight so the game is fair. These classes are used in many sports, especially combat sports like boxing, kickboxing, mixed martial arts (MMA), and wrestling.
Sometimes, athletes try to lose weight quickly before a competition. This is called weight cutting. They do this because they want to be the biggest and strongest person in their chosen weight class. Being bigger can give them an advantage over their opponents.
