Welby is a small town located in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the Wingecarribee Shire area. This town was once known by a different name, Fitz Roy.
Welby is very close to the town of Mittagong, just 1 kilometer (about half a mile) to its west. It is also home to the local Welby cemetery.

How Many People Live in Welby?
Welby is a small community.

A Look at Welby's History
Welby has some interesting old buildings. Many homes built from strong brick and stone date back to the 1850s. These old houses often have special rounded porches called "bull nose verandas."
The Old Fitz Roy Hall
The old Fitz Roy Progress Association Hall was built in 1931. This historic building is still standing today. It has been given a new life and is now an antique shop called The Merchant of Welby.
