Wendy Rosenberg Makkena (pronounced mə-KEH-nə; born October 4, 1958) is an American actress. She is well-known for her role as Sister Mary Robert in the movies Sister Act (1992) and Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993). She has also appeared in many other films and TV shows. Wendy Makkena has been acting on stage since the 1980s. Some of her other movies include Air Bud (1997), State of Play (2009), and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019).

Wendy Makkena was born in Manhattan, New York City. She went to a famous school called the Juilliard School to study acting. Her mother, Diana K. Rosenberg, was an astrologer.
Wendy Makkena's Acting Career
Wendy Makkena started her acting career on Broadway in 1987. Her first Broadway show was Pygmalion, where she acted alongside Peter O'Toole. She also appeared in other Broadway plays like Lend Me a Tenor and Side Man. In 1988, she made her first movie appearance in Eight Men Out.
Becoming Sister Mary Robert
In 1992, Wendy Makkena got a big role in the musical comedy movie Sister Act. She played Sister Mary Robert, a shy nun who had a beautiful singing voice. She acted alongside the famous actress Whoopi Goldberg. Wendy Makkena played this role again in the sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, the next year. Even though she played a singing nun, another singer named Andrea Robinson actually provided the singing voice for her character in both movies.
