Christopher Allen Lloyd (born October 22, 1938) is a famous American actor. He has been in many plays, movies, and TV shows since the 1960s.
He is best known for playing the amazing scientist Emmett Brown in the Back to the Future movies (1985–1990). He also played Jim Ignatowski in the TV comedy series Taxi (1978–1983). For his role in Taxi, he won two Emmy Awards.
Christopher Lloyd first became well-known in plays in the Northeastern U.S. in the 1960s and early 1970s. He won awards like the Drama Desk and Obie for his theater work.
His first movie was One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975). He then starred as Commander Kruge in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984). He was also Professor Plum in Clue (1985) and the scary Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988).
Later, he played Uncle Fester in The Addams Family (1991) and its sequel Addams Family Values (1993). He was Switchblade Sam in Dennis the Menace (1993). More recently, he appeared as Mr. Goodman in Piranha 3D (2010) and David Mansell in Nobody (2021).
Lloyd won another Emmy for his guest role as Alistair Dimple in Road to Avonlea in 1992. He also won an Independent Spirit Award for his acting in Twenty Bucks. He has done a lot of voice acting too. He was the voice of Merlock in DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp. He also voiced Grigori Rasputin in Anastasia. Kids might know him as the Hacker from PBS Kids' Cyberchase, which earned him Daytime Emmy nominations. He was also the Woodsman in Cartoon Network's Over the Garden Wall.

Early Life and School
Christopher Lloyd was born on October 22, 1938. His hometown is Stamford, Connecticut. His mother, Ruth Lloyd, was a singer. His father, Samuel R. Lloyd Jr., was a lawyer.
Christopher was the youngest of seven children. He had three older brothers and four older sisters. One of his brothers, Samuel Lloyd, was also an actor. His grandfather, Lewis Henry Lapham, helped start the Texaco oil company.
Christopher grew up in Westport, Connecticut. He went to Staples High School. While there, he helped start the school's theater group, the Staples Players.
Acting Career
Christopher Lloyd started acting in summer theaters when he was young. He took acting classes in New York City at age 19. He made his first New York theater appearance in 1961. His first big Broadway play was Red, White and Maddox in 1969.
He later performed in many Off-Broadway plays. These included famous ones like A Midsummer Night's Dream and Macbeth. He learned a lot from his acting teacher, Sanford Meisner. Meisner helped him become a more consistent actor.
His first movie role was in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975). He played Max Taber, a patient. In this movie, he worked with Danny DeVito, who would later be his co-star.
Christopher Lloyd became very famous for his TV roles. He played "Reverend" Jim Ignatowski, a former hippie cab driver, in the sitcom Taxi. He won two Emmy Awards for this role.
He is also widely known as the amazing inventor Emmett "Doc" Brown in the Back to the Future movies. He was nominated for a Saturn Award for this role.
In 1984, he played the alien Commander Kruge in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. His friend Leonard Nimoy suggested him for the part. In 1985, he was Professor Plum in the movie Clue. He also played the evil Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988).
Other notable roles include Merlock the Sorcerer in DuckTales the Movie (1990). He was Switchblade Sam in Dennis the Menace (1993). And of course, he was Uncle Fester in The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993).
In 1999, he worked with Michael J. Fox again in an episode of Spin City. He also starred in the movie remake of My Favorite Martian. He was a regular on the TV show Stacked in the mid-2000s.
In 2010, he played Willy Loman in the play Death of a Salesman. That same year, he voiced Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown again for Back to the Future: The Game. He also appeared in a 3D Imax film called Time, the Fourth Dimension.
He has continued to play Doc Brown in various projects. He appeared in an advertisement for an Argentine company and for Nike. In 2012 and 2013, he voiced Doc Brown in the show Robot Chicken. He was also a guest star on the 100th episode of Psych in 2013.
In 2015, Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox appeared together on Jimmy Kimmel Live. They did a skit to celebrate the date from Back to the Future Part II.
In 2018, he made a guest appearance in Roseanne. He played Lou, the boyfriend of Roseanne's mother. He later returned to this role in the spin-off show The Conners. In 2019, he voiced Xehanort in the video game Kingdom Hearts III.
In 2021, he played the best friend of William Shatner in the movie Senior Moment. In September 2021, he played Rick Sanchez in short videos for Rick and Morty. This character was inspired by his Doc Brown role.
In 2022, he appeared in a promotion for the movie The Adam Project. He was also cast in Spirit Halloween: The Movie. In this film, he plays Alec Windsor, a spirit who haunts a town. In 2023, he guest-starred in The Mandalorian as Commissioner Helgait. He is also set to appear in the live-action Knuckles series.
Personal Life
Christopher Lloyd has been married five times. In 2016, he married Lisa Loiacono. She was his real estate agent when he sold his house in Montecito, California, in 2012. His previous house there was destroyed in a fire in 2008.
His nephew, Sam Lloyd (1963–2020), was also an actor. He was known for playing Ted Buckland on the TV show Scrubs.
