Sam Lloyd (born November 12, 1963 – died April 30, 2020) was an American actor and singer. He was most famous for playing the lawyer Ted Buckland in the TV shows Scrubs and Cougar Town.

Early Life and Family
Sam Lloyd was born in Springfield, Vermont, on November 12, 1963. His father, Samuel Lloyd Sr., was also an actor. Sam had four siblings: Laurel, Robin, Sandra, and Jackson. His uncle was the well-known actor Christopher Lloyd.
Sam went to Syracuse University in the 1980s. While there, he acted in a student film called Fan Mail. He described this film as a "clever, fun, kind of homage to silent films."
His Acting Career
Sam Lloyd was best known for his role as the lawyer Ted Buckland. He played this character in the comedy-drama series Scrubs. He also played Ted in the sitcom Cougar Town.
Sam and his uncle, Christopher Lloyd, both appeared in the show Malcolm in the Middle. Sam played a housing lawyer, and his uncle played Hal's father. They also both appeared in The West Wing. Sam's character asked the White House for information about UFOs. His uncle played an expert on law. Sam also acted in Desperate Housewives as Dr. Albert Goldfine.
Music and Singing
Besides acting, Sam Lloyd was a talented singer. He was part of an a cappella group called the Blanks. This group often appeared on Scrubs as "The Worthless Peons," also known as "Ted's Band."
Sam also played the bass guitar in a band that honored the Beatles. This band was called The Butties. Even though Sam was right-handed, he learned to play the bass left-handed. He did this to be more like Paul McCartney, the Beatles' left-handed bassist.
Later Life and Passing
In January 2019, Sam Lloyd was diagnosed with a serious illness. He had a brain tumor that had spread from lung cancer. It had also spread to his liver, spine, and jaw. Around the time he received this news, his wife Vanessa had given birth to their son, Weston. Sam Lloyd passed away in Los Angeles on April 30, 2020, at the age of 56.
