Dr. Werner Münch is a German politician born on September 25, 1940, in Bottrop, Germany. He is known for his work in German politics, especially after Germany became one country again. He was a member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party for many years.

Werner Münch's Early Career
Werner Münch studied at the University of Freiburg. He became a political scientist, which means he studied how governments and political systems work. Before Germany reunited, he was a Member of the European Parliament. This important role meant he helped make decisions for countries in Europe. He represented the region of Lower Saxony from 1984 to 1990.
Leading Saxony-Anhalt
After Germany reunited, Werner Münch moved to Saxony-Anhalt. This is a state in Germany. He became the first Finance Minister for Saxony-Anhalt in November 1990. His job was to manage the state's money.
Becoming Minister-President
In July 1991, Werner Münch became the Minister-President of Saxony-Anhalt. This is like being the head of the state government. He took over from Gerd Gies. He worked hard to lead the state during a time of big changes.
Why He Left Office
Werner Münch served as Minister-President until December 1993. He decided to step down after some disagreements about payments. Christoph Bergner then took over as the new Minister-President.

This means he does not belong to any specific political party.
