From May 2002 to April 2011, he served as the fifth Minister-President of Saxony-Anhalt. This is a state in Germany. He also held the role of President of the Bundesrat for a year, from 2002 to 2003. Before becoming a politician, Wolfgang Böhmer worked as a medical doctor.
