Wesley is a small place in Atoka County, Oklahoma, United States. It is not a city or town with its own government. Instead, it is an unincorporated community. You can find Wesley about ten miles south of a town called Kiowa.
History of Wesley
Early Days and the Post Office
Wesley had its own post office a long time ago. It opened on October 2, 1903. This was when the area was known as Indian Territory. The post office helped people send and receive mail.
The post office stayed open for many years. It was an important part of the community. However, it finally closed its doors on May 15, 1955.
Part of the Choctaw Nation
When Wesley was first started, it was located in Atoka County, Choctaw Nation. This means it was part of the land belonging to the Choctaw Nation. This was before Oklahoma became a state.
