Kiowa is a small town located in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, in the United States. In 2010, about 731 people lived there. By 2020, the population was 595.
A Look Back in Time
When Kiowa was first established, it was part of the Choctaw Nation in what was then called the Indian Territory. Its exact location was near the border of Jacksfork County and Tobucksy County.
A post office opened in Kiowa, Indian Territory, on May 6, 1881. The town got its name from a nearby place called Kiowa Hill.
