This village was once known by a different name: Lyons.

Schools in West Baraboo

West Baraboo is part of the Baraboo School District. This district runs Baraboo High School. Before 1961, students from West Baraboo had to pay to attend Baraboo High School. This changed when the Baraboo School District grew.

Long ago, there was a wooden schoolhouse in Lyons (old West Baraboo). A new brick school was built in 1901. The old wooden building was moved and used for storage. The brick school building was taken down in 1981.
