West Buechel is located in the middle of Jefferson County. It shares a border with Watterson Park to the west. All other sides of West Buechel are surrounded by the larger area of Louisville and Jefferson County combined.
Two main roads help define the city's edges. U.S. Route 150 forms the northeast border, and Newburg Road makes up most of the southwest border. If you travel about 7 miles (11 km) northwest, you'll reach Downtown Louisville.
