The West Fork Cimarron River is a cool waterway in Colorado. It's a smaller river, about 11.8-mile-long (19.0 km), and it flows into a bigger river called the Cimarron River. Think of it like a small stream joining a larger creek!

Where the River Starts and Ends

This river begins its journey in a beautiful, wild area. Its source is found west of a place called Coxcomb Peak. This spot is inside the Uncompahgre Wilderness, which is a protected natural area. The starting point is in Hinsdale County.

Joining the Cimarron River

After flowing for nearly 12 miles, the West Fork Cimarron River meets up with the main Cimarron River. This meeting point is in Gunnison County. From there, the water continues its long trip.

Part of a Bigger River System

The water from the West Fork Cimarron River doesn't stop at the Cimarron River. It keeps flowing! It joins the Gunnison River, and then the Gunnison River flows into the mighty Colorado River. So, a drop of water from the West Fork Cimarron River could eventually travel all the way to the ocean!
