The area known as West Livingston started to grow in the late 1900s. People believe it got its name because of where it is located. It is west of the city of Livingston.

West Livingston is located on the southeast shore of Lake Livingston. It is also north of Lake Livingston State Park. US Route 190 runs just south of the community.
