West Side, also known as Westside, is a small place in the state of Oregon. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it does not have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it is part of a larger county.
West Side is located in Lake County, Oregon. You can find it southwest of Lakeview. Lakeview is the main town, or county seat, of Lake County.
A Look Back: West Side's History
West Side got its name from a local shop called the Westside Store. This store was on the western side of Goose Lake. The community's name came from its location near the lake.
Post Office and Early Days
A post office was opened in West Side in June 1923. This was an important place for people to send and receive mail. The first person in charge of the post office was named Will C. Fleming.
The West Side post office stayed open for many years. However, it closed its doors on July 31, 1942. Even though the post office is gone, the community of West Side still exists today.
