Mall History
The Westfield Trumbull mall has been around for a long time and has an interesting history.
Early Days
When the mall first opened in 1964, it was called the Trumbull Shopping Park. It had two main stores: E. J. Korvette and D.M. Read (which later became Read's). There were also stores like Waldbaum's and Woolworth's. In 1977, the Westfield Group bought the mall, making it their first mall in the U.S.
Changes Over Time
Over the years, some of the stores changed names or were replaced. For example, the Read's store became Jordan Marsh in 1987. Then, in 1992, it changed again to Abraham & Straus, and finally to Macy's in 1995.
In 1998, the mall's name changed to Westfield Shoppingtown Trumbull. But in 2005, they simplified the name to just Westfield Trumbull.
New Additions
In 2006, the Macy's store moved to a different spot in the mall. The old Macy's building was taken down in 2007. In its place, a new two-story Target store was built, which opened in October 2008.
