Westmoreland is the neighborhood farthest to the west in Huntington. It is located right next to the Ohio River. This area is protected by a large wall called a floodwall. This wall was built after a very big flood in 1937.

In 1937, the Ohio River had a terrible flood. It caused a lot of damage to many towns along the river, including Huntington. After this flood, people decided to build strong floodwalls. These walls help protect the neighborhood from future floods.
