The Whilldin Building is a cool old building in Birmingham, Alabama. It used to be the office of a famous Alabama architect named David Oliver Whilldin. He designed and built it himself between 1923 and 1924.
This building is so special that it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. This means it's an important historical site that should be protected. Today, a law firm called Wininger Law Firm uses the building as their office.

A Building That Looks Like Two
David O. Whilldin designed his building to look like two separate parts. It's a clever trick!
The White Side
The bigger, white part of the building is covered with smooth limestone. It has four flat columns, called pilasters, that go up the side. These pilasters hold up a decorative band and a fancy top edge, called a cornice.
Whilldin's Special Office
The smaller part of the building, on the left, was where Whilldin had his own office. This section is set back a little from the street. It's made of dark brick with cool designs made from terra cotta (a type of baked clay) and stone.
The entrance to this part is really amazing. It has detailed carvings of leaves and a ribbon design. There are also supports that hold up an arched cover over the doorway. A yellow terra cotta band runs across the front, right above the windows. On this band, you can read the words: "D.O. WHILLDIN, ARCHITECT."
The Famous Yankees Mural
In 2012, David Wininger, who owns the building now, had a huge New York Yankees mural painted on the side. It's a giant artwork showing some of the most famous baseball players ever!
Baseball Legends on the Wall
The mural features legendary players like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Derek Jeter, and Yogi Berra. It's a fun surprise to see these baseball heroes on the side of a historic building!
