Whiskey Island is a small island located in the northern part of Lake Michigan. It's part of a group of islands known as the Beaver Island archipelago. Even though no one lives on Whiskey Island, it's officially part of St. James Township in Charlevoix County, Michigan. The island is about ⅜ of a square mile (1.0 square kilometer) in size. Sometimes, people also call it Whisky Island.

Where is Whiskey Island?
Whiskey Island is found in the big freshwater Lake Michigan. It's one of many islands that make up the Beaver Island group. This group of islands is located in the northern part of the lake, within the state of Michigan in the United States.
How Big is it and Who Lives There?
The island is quite small, covering about ⅜ of a square mile (which is about 1 square kilometer). This is roughly the size of 185 football fields! Whiskey Island is an uninhabited island, meaning no people live there permanently. However, it is still considered a part of St. James Township in Charlevoix County, Michigan.
A Shipwreck Story
Long ago, a sailing ship called the Chandler J. Wells had an accident near Whiskey Island. On November 20, 1884, this schooner hit a shallow area of water, called a shoal, off the island's coast. The ship was carrying wood from Manistique, Michigan and was on its way to Buffalo, New York when it sank.
