Kids Encyclopedia Facts

White Rock is a small community located in the southeastern part of Carroll County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It's not a city, but rather a collection of homes and buildings that form a neighborhood.

White Rock: A Missouri Community

White Rock is found along Missouri Route O. It sits on a hill, looking down over the wide, flat land near the Missouri River. A stream called Wakenda Creek flows nearby to the south.

Where is White Rock Located?

This community is surrounded by other towns. De Witt is about five miles to the northeast. Wakenda is five miles to the southwest. If you look across the Missouri River to the southeast, you'll find Miami. Also, Miami Station, a place that used to be a train stop, is 1.5 miles to the northeast.

How Did White Rock Get Its Name?

The community of White Rock got its name from the white rocks found there. These rocks were dug out, or quarried, from the side of the bluff (a steep cliff) just below where the community is built.
