The Wilbur Theatre is right in the middle of Boston's well-known theater area. It is famous for hosting exciting live comedy shows and music concerts. The theater can hold 1,093 people for seated events. However, the main floor can change! Tables and chairs can be moved to create standing room. This allows up to 1,200 people to enjoy a show. The theater also has snack bars on all three floors. You can find them on the Orchestra, Mezzanine, and Balcony levels.

History of the Wilbur Theatre

The Wilbur Theatre was built in 1913 by a person named Clarence Blackall. It officially opened to the public the next year, in 1914. This theater is very important because it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. This list keeps track of special places in the United States. In 1987, it was also named a Boston Landmark. This means it's a very important building in the city of Boston.

In 1998, a company called SFX Entertainment bought the rights to many theaters in Boston. This included the lease for the Wilbur Theatre. Their lease ended in 2006. In 2007, the theater was put up for sale. Then, in 2008, a person named Bill Blumenreich leased the building. He used to own a comedy club called the Comedy Connection. Today, the Wilbur Theatre still regularly hosts funny comedy acts and cool musical performances. It also holds many other fun events.
