Wildlife Warriors is a special group that helps protect animals and their homes. It was started in 2002 by the famous "Crocodile Hunter," Steve Irwin, and his wife, Terri Irwin. Their goal was to teach people about wildlife and help animals that are hurt, or are in danger of disappearing forever. Terri Irwin continues to be a big part of the organization today.

What Wildlife Warriors Does
Wildlife Warriors works hard to keep our planet healthy for animals. They focus on several important goals to make a difference.
Protecting Nature
- They work to protect and improve the natural places where animals live. This includes forests, oceans, and grasslands.
Teaching About Wildlife
- They share information and teach people about animals and the problems they face. This helps everyone understand why wildlife needs our help.
Helping Endangered Animals
- They do research to find out how to best protect animals that are threatened or endangered. These are animals that might disappear forever if we don't act.
- They also work with other groups that have similar goals. This way, they can achieve more together.
Amazing Projects Around the World
Wildlife Warriors has many projects in different parts of the world. These projects help a variety of animals and their environments.
Animal Hospitals and Rescue
- In Australia, they run the Australian Wildlife Hospital. This hospital helps sick or injured animals get better.
- They also have a Wildlife Rescue Unit that saves animals in trouble.
Saving Big Animals
- They work to protect elephants in Asia.
- Tigers in Sumatra also get help from their conservation efforts.
- In South Africa, they work to save rhinos and cheetahs.
Ocean Life and Research
- They research grey nurse sharks in Australia to help protect them.
- In the United States, they study whales to learn more about them.
Community and Research
- They have education programs around the world to teach people about wildlife.
- In Queensland, Australia, they do research on koalas.
- They also study crocodiles at the Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve in Queensland.
The Wildlife Warriors Logo
The logo for Wildlife Warriors is very special. It shows the footprints, called pugmarks, of five different endangered animals. These footprints are placed around a human footprint.
- The animals represented are:
- The Cassowary, a large bird from Australia.
- The Saltwater crocodile, a powerful reptile.
- The Asian elephant, a huge land animal.
- The Ethiopian wolf, a rare wild dog.
- The Bornean orangutan, a type of ape from Borneo.
The human footprint in the middle shows that people are important in protecting these animals.
After Steve Irwin's Passing
After Steve Irwin passed away on September 4, 2006, many people from all over the world wanted to help. They sent donations to Wildlife Warriors. In October 2006, the organization received a lot of support. This money helped fund their animal hospital and other programs for many months.
A special public memorial service for Steve Irwin was held at Australia Zoo. This service was also made into a DVD. All the money from selling this DVD went to help Wildlife Warriors continue its important work.
Steve Irwin's daughter, Bindi Irwin, was nine years old at the time. She became a new public face for Wildlife Warriors, helping to share their message.
