William Ash grew up in Chadderton, England. He started acting at a young age. When he was just 10, he appeared on the TV show Coronation Street. He played a character named Spike.
He then got a regular part in Making Out. This was a TV series that ran from 1989 to 1991. After that, he had another regular role in the ITV series Where the Heart Is.
