William Budge (May 1, 1828 – March 18, 1919) was an important leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a mission president and a stake president. He was also a member of the Idaho Legislature.

Early Life and Faith
William Budge was born on May 1, 1828, in Lanark, Scotland. When he was a teenager, he moved to Glasgow to find work. At the age of 20, he decided to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Missionary Journeys
In 1851, William Budge became a missionary. He spent about nine years serving in many different places. He was the president of the Swiss Mission for a time. He also led church districts in Glasgow and five different areas in England.
Budge traveled to other countries to share his faith. He preached the gospel in Italy and Germany. In 1855, a church leader named Franklin D. Richards sent him to Saxony. He went there to answer questions about the Church from Karl G. Maeser, who later became a well-known educator.
Moving to America
In 1860, William Budge moved to Utah Territory in the United States. Later, he settled in Bear Lake County, Idaho. This area became his home for many years.
Church Leadership Roles
William Budge held several important leadership positions in the Church.
- From 1878 to 1880, he served as the president of the European Mission again. This meant he was in charge of all the Church's activities in Europe.
- He was the president of the Bear Lake Stake from 1870 to 1906. A stake is a large group of local congregations.
- From 1906 to 1918, Budge was the president of the Logan Utah Temple. This is a special building where members of the Church perform sacred ceremonies.
Public Service
Besides his church duties, William Budge also served his community. He was a member of the Idaho Legislature. This means he helped make laws for the state of Idaho.
Legacy
William Budge passed away on March 18, 1919, in Logan, Utah. He is remembered for his dedication and service. One of the student dorms at Brigham Young University is named Helaman Halls, and one of those halls is named after William Budge.
