William Claremont facts for kids

William Claremont (died 1832) was a British stage actor. He performed for many years in London's most famous theaters. These included the Covent Garden, Haymarket, and Drury Lane theaters.
William was born in London. His original name was William Cleaver. His mother was a shop assistant, and his father was a deliveryman. When he was young, he was trained to work for a linen merchant.
Becoming an Actor
William Claremont's first known acting jobs were in Margate in 1792. By 1793, he was regularly performing at the Covent Garden theater. During the summer months, he also acted in Richmond and Birmingham.
He continued to act at Covent Garden until 1805. After that, he moved to the Drury Lane theater. He stayed there until 1822, performing in many plays.
