William Edwin Harvey (born August 6, 1871 – died January 13, 1922) was an American lawyer and a military officer. He served in the United States Army during the late 1800s and early 1900s. William Harvey spent most of his life living in and around Washington, D.C..

William Harvey's Life and Career
Early Life and Education
William Harvey was born on August 6, 1871, in Kirkwood, Missouri. He was a very smart student and went to Columbian University. This university is now known as George Washington University Law School.
He earned his first law degree, called an LL.B., in 1893. The next year, in 1894, he earned an advanced law degree, an LL.M.. After finishing his studies, Harvey became a lawyer. He worked in Washington, D.C., and was part of a law firm called King and King and Associates from 1893 to 1919.
Military Service
William Harvey also had a strong interest in the military. In 1890, he joined the District of Columbia National Guard. This is a part of the U.S. military that helps states during emergencies. He worked his way up through different ranks.
On June 4, 1915, William Harvey was given an important role. He was made a brigadier general and put in charge of the district's militia. A brigadier general is a high-ranking officer in the army.
Later, on August 22, 1917, he became a brigadier general in the National Army. He took command of the 75th Infantry Brigade at Camp Shelby. After that, he was moved to lead the First Provisional Brigade Army Troops. William Harvey officially left the military on May 9, 1918.
Later Life and Legacy
William Harvey lived in the Chevy Chase neighborhood of Washington, D.C., for many years. He passed away on January 13, 1922. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, a famous cemetery where many American soldiers and important people are laid to rest.

William Harvey married Katherine E. Heydrick on February 12, 1896. He was a member of the Episcopalian church.
