William Henry Trotter Bush (born July 14, 1938 – died February 27, 2018) was an American banker and businessman. He came from the famous Bush family. He was the youngest son of US Senator Prescott Sheldon Bush. He was also the younger brother of former President George H. W. Bush. Plus, he was the uncle of former President George W. Bush and former Florida governor Jeb Bush.

About William H.T. Bush

His Early Life and Education

William Bush was born in Greenwich, Connecticut. He went to the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut, and finished there in 1956.

After high school, he studied at Yale University, earning his degree in 1960. While at Yale, he joined a student group called Psi Upsilon.

In 2009, he received a special honor from Queen Elizabeth II. He was named a Commander Brother of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem.

Family and Later Life

William Bush lived in St. Louis, Missouri. This was also where his grandfather, George Herbert Walker, had lived.

In 1959, he married Patricia Redfearn. She passed away on November 10, 2015. They had two children together: William Prescott "Scott" Bush and Louisa Bush McCall.

William Bush died on February 27, 2018, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Three of his older brothers and sisters were still living at that time.

His Career in Business

William Bush worked in banking and venture capital. Venture capital is when people invest money in new businesses that are just starting. He also served on the boards of many companies.

In 1986, he started his own company called Bush O'Donnell & Co. He was the main leader of this company until he passed away.

He also helped with the election campaigns for his brother George H. W. Bush, his nephew George W. Bush, and his nephew Jeb Bush. His main role was to help raise money for their campaigns.

Community Involvement

From 1978 to 1986, William Bush was the president and a director of Boatmen's Bancshares, a bank based in St. Louis.

He was very active in his community in St. Louis. He led the Board of Trustees for Saint Louis University from 1985 to 1992. He also chaired the Missouri Botanical Garden from 1991 to 1993. From 2005 to 2006, he was the president of Municipal Opera Association, which puts on outdoor musicals.

He was also a director for Maritz, Inc., and served on the board of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Missouri from 1989 to 1994.

On May 18, 2010, William Bush felt unwell and collapsed during a meeting in Indianapolis. He was taken to Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis. He was on the board of directors for the company holding the meeting, WellPoint. Doctors said he was alert and talking and expected to be okay.
