William Baker Rock (born August 5, 1872 – died June 27, 1922) was a famous American vaudeville performer. He was known for being a talented comedian and dancer.

William Rock often worked with partners to create popular acts. He was part of a duo called Rock and Fulton with Maude Fulton. Later, he teamed up with Frances White (1898–1969) to form the act Rock and White.

Early Life and Career

William Baker Rock was born on August 5, 1872, in Evansville, Indiana. His parents were William Beverly Rock and Matilda Baker.

He became well-known in vaudeville, which was a popular type of entertainment in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Vaudeville shows featured many different acts, like comedians, dancers, singers, and magicians. William Rock's skills as a comedian and dancer made him a favorite with audiences.

Partnerships in Vaudeville

William Rock had two very successful partnerships during his career.

Rock and Fulton

His first famous partnership was with Maude Fulton. Together, they created the act known as Rock and Fulton. They performed across the country, entertaining many people with their comedy and dance routines.

Rock and White

Later, William Rock formed a new act with Frances White. This duo was called Rock and White. Frances White was also a very talented performer, and their act became quite popular. She even appeared with him in a show called Hitchy-Koo.

Personal Life and Later Years

William Rock married several times during his life. On October 5, 1905, he married Jane Ryder in Manhattan, New York City. He also married Gladys Tilbury, who was from Brighton, England. His last marriage was to Helen Eby of Altoona, Pennsylvania, on July 6, 1921.

Sadly, William Rock faced health challenges. Shortly after his last marriage, on July 13, 1921, he was hospitalized. He had surgery to remove part of his stomach.

He passed away on June 27, 1922, at the National Stomach Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He died from cancer of the stomach. William Rock was buried in Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
