High School Success

Willie Kemp was a star player in high school. In 2006, he was named Tennessee's Class AA Mr. Basketball. This award goes to the best high school basketball player in his division. He was also named Player of the Year by The Jackson Sun.

Willie helped his team, Bolivar Central, win many games. They had an amazing record of 29 wins and 11 losses. He led them to the state quarterfinals. During his four years on the varsity team, Bolivar Central won 117 games and lost only 25.

He scored over 1,900 points in his high school career. He also made over 800 assists. Willie led Bolivar Central to win two state championships in a row. They won in 2004 and 2005. He was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the state tournament in 2005. Experts rated him as one of the top point guards in the country.

College Basketball Career

Willie Kemp played college basketball for the University of Memphis. He was part of the Memphis Tigers team. This team made it to the 2008 NCAA Finals. This is a very big achievement in college basketball.
