Willshire is a small village located in Van Wert County, Ohio, in the United States. In 2020, about 405 people lived there. Willshire is part of the larger Van Wert, Ohio area.
The village is very close to the border between Ohio and Indiana, only about 0.5 miles (0.8 km) away. The St. Mary's River flows along the eastern side of the village.

History of Willshire Village
Willshire was started in 1822 by a person named Captain James Riley. He named the village after an English man, William Willshire, who helped save him when Captain Riley was held captive in Africa.
The village has had a post office since it was founded in 1822. For a time, Willshire was even the very first county seat for Van Wert County. This means it was the main town where the county government was located.
