Wim Bleijenberg (born November 5, 1930 – died January 10, 2016) was a famous Dutch soccer player. He played as a forward, which means he was mainly focused on scoring goals.

Wim played for several clubs during his career, including FC Wageningen, Rigtersbleek, AFC Ajax, Blauw-Wit Amsterdam, Go Ahead Eagles, and AGOVV Apeldoorn. He also played a few times for the Netherlands national team.

He had a fun nickname, Wim Kontje, which means "Wim Backside". He got this name because he was very good at turning away from his opponents on the field.

Club Career

Early Days

Wim Bleijenberg grew up in Veenendaal, a town near Utrecht in the Netherlands. He started playing soccer in the youth teams of a local club called VV Veenendaal.

His first professional team was FC Wageningen. He joined them for the 1951–52 season. In that first year, he scored an amazing 21 goals! After just one season, Wim moved to Enschede and joined Rigtersbleek, where he played for four years.

Playing for Ajax

In 1956, Wim Bleijenberg joined Ajax, one of the biggest soccer clubs in the Netherlands. In his very first season (1956–57), he was the top scorer for the club in league matches. He scored 16 goals in 18 games! His goals helped Ajax win the National Championship that year.

Two years later, he was again one of the top scorers for Ajax, scoring 15 goals. He played a total of four seasons for the club in Amsterdam. Wim scored 51 goals in 88 games for Ajax across all competitions. In his final season with Ajax (1959–60), he didn't play as much. However, he scored a special "hattrick" (three goals in one game) in the match that decided the league title against their big rivals, Feyenoord. After this, he moved to another Amsterdam club, Blauw-Wit Amsterdam.

Blauw-Wit and Go Ahead Eagles

After leaving Ajax, Wim Bleijenberg stayed in Amsterdam and joined Blauw-Wit Amsterdam. He played there for one season, scoring 16 goals in 28 league matches. He also helped the team get promoted to a higher league in 1961.

Next, he moved to Deventer to play for Go Ahead Eagles. He spent two seasons with them and helped them get promoted to the Eredivisie, which is the top soccer league in the Netherlands, in 1963.

Final Club: AGOVV Apeldoorn

In 1963, after his time with Go Ahead Eagles, Wim Bleijenberg joined AGOVV. He played three more seasons for this club from Apeldoorn. After these three seasons, he decided to retire from professional soccer.
